The SJCA has a limited amount of equipment for use by beginners and those that have not yet purchased their own equipment. For those that want to purchase their own equipment, we have provided some information below on how to go about it.

Whites

Croquet is traditionally played in whites. This is not a requirement at St. James, but many members choose to wear whites for tournaments and special events. Any white clothing is acceptable, but many members prefer white golf shirts and white shorts or slacks.

Mallets

The club has a number of mallets that are available for use by members. If you are interested in purchasing your own mallet, there are several manufacturers that you can consider. Some of the most popular include:

• Oakley Woods Croquet – A wide range of mallets for all skill levels.
• Fenwick-Elliott – High-quality mallets made in the UK.
• Terminator Mallets – Modern mallets with a variety of customization options.

Before purchasing a mallet, it is a good idea to try out several different types to see what feels best for you. Many of our members are happy to let you try their mallets.

Accessories

In addition to mallets and whites, there are several other accessories that you may find useful, such as croquet shoes, ball markers, and specialized clips. These can be found at many of the same retailers that sell mallets.
